Oyster Football Club is committed to providing opportunities for everyone who lives on Mersea Island, and the surrounding areas to participate in football regardless of their ethnicity, disability or gender. The club was founded in 1971, and is currently having an unprecedented period of growth. It currently offers approximately 200 people the opportunity to play sport on Mersea. As well as a very successful Adult team, the club supports 7 different youth teams, from 7 year olds to 18. The club is always striving to improve and this year has helped 6 of its coaches achieve FA level 1 accreditation. The club is run by a committee of volunteers, and parents and is a non for profit organization. The club plays an essential part in the fabric of the island community, offering the largest opportunity for the youth of the island to take part in sport.
